Quakers looking for hat trick of wins on last ever league visit to Bootham Crescent

A look ahead to the game to the York City game on New Year's Day

We’re looking to record a hat trick of wins when we go to Bootham Crescent for our last ever league game there on New Year’s Day.

City are moving to the north of the city to a new ground at Monk’s Cross for the start of next season, so this will be Darlington fans’ last chance of seeing their team in action at a charming football ground.

The clubs have played each other 112 times over the years, going all the way back to the old Football League Third Division North, with Quakers winning 37 times and York 46.

We head there having beaten York 5-1 on Boxing Day and Ashton united 2-1 on Saturday, while York’s poor away record continued when they were beaten 2-1 at Blyth.

However, they have a better home record at Bootham Crescent than they do away from home.

Darlington striker Andrew Nelson is in top form, having scored six goals in four games -- two of them against Ashton United last Saturday while suffering from a heavy cold.
