Quakers prepare for York City test
By Ray Simpson
Fourth pre season friendly
Quakers face higher league opposition for the second time in three days when York City visit Blackwell Meadows tonight (kick off 7.30)
Quakers gave a good account of themselves against EFL opposition last Saturday when they narrowly lost 1-0 at home to Doncaster, and York City, who play a division higher than Quakers in the National League, will provide equally tough opposition.
Darlington manager Steve Watson – who was manager of the Minstermen for nearly three years – will be using the same squad that was on duty for the game against Doncaster on Saturday, which will mean that keeper Pete Jameson, defenders Scott Barrow and Scott Barrow, midfielders Will Hatfield and Tom Platt and striker Cedric Main will all be facing their old club, as well as triallist Jonny Haase.
York beat Grimsby Town in their latest friendly last Saturday, after beating Whitby in the previous midweek. They are managed by Adam Hinshelwood, who took over near the end of last season, while former Darlington player Tony McMahon is on their coaching staff.
