Darlington have today signed promising 16 year old midfielder Mitchell Glover.
The Stoke-born playmaking midfielder, who doesn’t turn 17 until April next year, is described by Darlington manager Tommy Wright as one of the most exciting and promising talents in non-league football. He played under Tommy at Nuneaton, playing for the first team as a 15 year old last season, and this season he scored with his first touch of the ball after coming on as a sub at Boston United in the Vanarama National League North.
Tommy said; “I am absolutely delighted that Mitch has turned down a Football League club this week to continue his development working with me and he sees Darlington as the perfect platform for him to showcase his ability and progress as a player.
“There have been numerous Premier League scouts monitoring him over a six month period and I believe this lad will go all the way in the pro game.
“He is fearless on the pitch and is mature beyond his years. He is one of the most technically gifted players I’ve worked with and there is so much more to come from him.
“He will learn so much playing alongside senior players such as Phil Turnbull."
Mitchell will now be included in the travelling squad for Saturday's away game at Gainsborough.
