Quakers win Teesside Futsal League!

In their debut season

Darlington FC Futsal win the Teesside Futsal League in just their first season!

A newly formed Darlington F.C Futsal team have won the Teesside Futsal League at the first time of asking. The team was established in September and put together by coaches Tony Liddle and Shaun Mackenzie. The lads had never played in a Futsal team before and are the first Darlington F.C Futsal team. Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is a five a side version of football played indoors.

The Squad is made up of seven players. Pictured above from left to right:

Tony Liddle (first left) who coaches the team every Wednesday night said: “Before the Winter League started, the vast majority of the lads had never played Futsal, certainly not together.

“We said we’d be happy finishing mid table but three months later we were undefeated champions, winning nine games, drawing one and scoring a total of 76 goals!

“As the weeks progressed, the team went from strength to strength, developing in every area of the game, beating some very strong and well-established Futsal teams along the way. I am immensely proud of how the lads came together and developed as a team in such a short space of time.

“They all have fantastic attitudes, on and off the court, they all listen to instructions and respond to feedback and are all a real credit to their families.

“We are very much looking forward to getting the Spring League started and continuing our success.

“The team will be also representing Darlington F.C at a National Futsal competition at the Beacon of Light, in Sunderland in the New Year. "

The Futsal team are currently without a sponsor, if anyone is interested in sponsoring the team, please email boysdevelopment@darlingtonfcacademy.co.uk
