Richmond Town 2 Darlington Reserves 1
The reserves failed to adapt to the heavy conditions when they lost 2-1 at Richmond Town’s picturesque ground on Saturday.
The lads took an early lead, but Richmond hit back with two goals before half time.
Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “We took the lead early on with a James Beauchamp penalty after Dale Milburn was fouled, but then we were undone by two setplays. One was a short corner, and another a long throw in.
“I thought we more than matched them in the second half, but we didn’t do enough to get back and win the game.
“The heavy conditions and the pitch suited Richmond, they knew how to play to them and we didn’t.
“Our 3G pitch suits us, but sometimes we have struggled to adapt away from home. We could maybe do with some experience to help us.”
The lads are now down to 9th, with 23 points from 17 games.
The reserves next game is at home to Wolviston at Eastbourne this Saturday, kick off 2pm
