The reserves had a good 1-1 draw at home to Boldon CA in the Wearside League on Saturday afternoon.

The lads took the lead early in the second half, but couldn’t quite hold on to it against a team that is expected to be amongst the championship contenders at the end of the season.

Joint manager mark Fanning said; “I think one of the big pluses that came out of the game was that we weren’t muscled out of it as we were in our last two or three games.

“It was a good, physical battle, and we stood up to them well, when in recent games we’ve let ourselves down.

“WE were maybe unlucky not to pick up all three points because we had a great chance near the end, but on the balance of play a draw was a fair result.”

Quakers took the lead after 53 minutes through Eddie Pearson, but Boldon levelled from a free kick.

However, Quakers could have won it when Danny Wheeler hit the bar, and Joey Beauchamp couldn’t quite score from the rebound.

The reserves next game is at Cleator Moor Celtic on Wednesday night.
