The reserves pulled off their first win in seven matches when they beat second placed Hebburn Town Reserves 2-1 at Eastbourne on Saturday.
Both of Quakers’ goals, from Vinny Steels and Dale Milburn, were excellent efforts, with Milburn’s goal clinching the points late in the game.
But Kevin Burgess out of the first team squad, also played a big part in the win.
Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “I thought we were the better footballing side. I thought we bossed the first half, and created some good chances.
“Vinny timed his run perfectly to get on he end of a Joey Smith cross, Dale got the winner with a great volley.
“Kevin Burgess made a huge difference to us, though. He talked a lot to the other players on the pitch, he never got flustered, and he controlled all the lads around him. He provided the experience that we have been missing.
“We’re delighted with the win. We’ve played them twice already this season and they’ve beat us each time.”
The lads are now seventh in the table, and moved up two places thanks to this win.
