Darlington joint reserve team manager Mark Fanning is aiming for four wins out five on Saturday against Silksworth in the Wearside League.

The Reserves have steadily climbed towards the middle of the table in recent weeks, and a victory today could even put them into the top half of the table, because even though they’re 16th, they’re only two points below ninth.

“We played them earlier in the season when we were still at Horden, after drawing 0-0 at half time, we lost 7-0 in the second half,” said Mark. “We did enough to hold them in the first half, but in the second half we collapsed. At the time, I didn’t think that Silksworth had much for us to be afraid of.

“Since then, we’ve become a side that’s getting better and better all the time. Our recent form has been very good with three wins out of four, so we have to keep this form going.

“Fair play to the lads, they’ve come in and listened to what we’ve told them. They’ve been able to adjust to what we want them to do and how to play.”

Silksworth are currently fourth in the table, with twelve wins from their 22 matches this season.

Quakers will be missing midfielder Lewis Goldsack and defender Joe Marlow because both are away on North Riding FA youth duty, but defenders Anthony Snook and Anthony Verity both return.
