Quakers’ reserves start their pre season build up with an away game at Harrogate Town Under 21s on Thursday night.
The reserves had a great end to the Wearside League season, finishing in midtable after being in the bottom two when they became part of the Quakers’ set up in October.
There’ll be a mixture of former Under 18s and last season’s players in Thurday’s squad, and joint manager Mark Fanning said; “We’ve got a mixture of players in the squad. We’ve still got the nucleus of last season’s team, although one or two have left us.
“The lads who were in the Under 18s last season, and are now too old for that team, have moved up, while we’ll also be giving a couple of triallists a run out.
“Overall, it means that we have a good squad with plenty of potential. It will be interesting to se how they shape up.”
There has been one change in the coaching team, with Stevie Johnson stepping down and Andrew Jinks, who coached the Under 18s last season, replacing him.
If you’re in the area, the game at Wetherby Road kicks off at 7.45
