Darlington Reserves 5 Windscale 3
The reserves regained their composure to pick up all three points in the TWR Wearside League against Windscale.
The lads looked set for the points when they led 3-1 at one stage, but they switched off and let the Cumbrians back into the game to level at 3-3.
However, they managed to get going and collect the three points, which gave them their first win in four matches and put them sixth in the table.
Joint manager Paul Aldsworth said; “Defensively we weren’t at our best, but attacking-wise we were fantastic. We got to 3-1 up, but then we let them back into the game. But Vinny Steele’s goal to make it 4-3 took some of the pressure off us, and we held on for the win. We needed that victory because we haven’t won for a while.
“I was pleased with the way that the players recovered at 3-3, because they hadn’t been doing their jobs when it was 3-1. They got complacent, and I get annoyed when players become complacent.”
Windscale took an early lead with a good goal, but Quakers equalised with a good header by James Beauchamp.
They went 2-1 up when Tom Young finished off a good move with a shot into the bottom corner, and then it was 3-1 when Vinny Steel cut in and fired into the top corner.

But then Windscale got back into the game. Poor defending let them make it 3-2, and then a penalty for a foul by the Darlo keeper saw them equalise.
But then Steel beat a defender and fired into the top corner to make it 4-3 again, and Beauchamp dribbled through for 5-3 late in the game.
The reserves next game is at Boldon CA on Wednesday night.
