The reserves were knocked out of the Durham FA trophy by Billingham Town Reserves at the weekend.
After doing so well in the league in recent weeks, the reserves let themselves down against their Teesside League opposition, and lost 2-1.
“The lads have produced some very good performances in recent weeks, but this was definitely the worst of the season so far,” said joint manager mark Fanning. “The attitude and decision making of some of the players were poor.
“Before the game, we told the players not to be complacent, but within three minutes we were a goal down, and by half time we were 2-0 down.
“We had more possession in the second half, but we didn’t really hurt Billingham much, and we could only pull one goal back.
“We didn’t have any complaints, we didn’t deserve anything from the game.
“A few harsh words were said afterwards, and there’s a good chance that some players will be leaving on the back of this.”
The reserves next game is at Gateshead Leam Rangers FC in the preliminary round of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup on Saturday.
