Telford United 2 Darlington 0

Darlington endured a frustrating afternoon at the New Buck's Head, and lost to two second half goals.

The main talking point of the afternoon was the dismissal of keeper Peter Jameson, following a clash with Telford striker Bradley Reid, who fell to the ground after tussling with the keeper.

Quakers were on top on the first half, but couldn’t break through.

Telford keeper James Montgomery started time wasting from the early moments to slow quakers down.

But nevertheless, Phil Turnbull wen t close wit ha right foot shot from 30 yards, then Montgomery saved a Mark Beck header from a left wing cross.

Telford slowly increased the tempo of their game and Bradley Reid made a couple of runs that Gary Brown broke up.

Quakers had a chance on the half hour when Thompson nodded the balll across the box for David Syers to curl a shot at Montgomery, then Kevin Burgess nodded narrowly over from a Falkingham cross.

They nearly broke through approaching half time. Thompson had two shots saved, and in stoppage time, Beck had a shot saved at point blank range and David Syers’ follow up was deflected against the post.

The second half adopted the same pattern , with Gary Brown having a close range header blocked from a corner.

But Telford started to threaten, and Paul McCone put a header over the bar from a free kick.

The game turned against Quakers on 68 minutes, when Peter Jameson tangled with Telford's Bradley Reid and was red carded. The referee awarded Telford a penalty that Josh Wilson converted.

Quakers went 2-0 down on 75 minutes when Danny Hibbert sent Reid racing clear, and the striker buried his shot into the bottom corner.

Telford then wound the clock down, although Quakers had a penalty shout turned down when Beck seemed to be pushed as he went for a corner.
