We begin a new era on Saturday, when we host ex Football League rivals Stockport County at Blackwell Meadows (writes Simon Hahn).

The day is also designated as Non League Day, in partnership with Prostate Cancer UK, which will be raising awareness at the game.

MG’s five years in charge came to an end last Sunday, when he left to join league rivals York City and link up with former Quaker manager Dave Penney.

Previous assistant managers Brian Atkinson and Sean Gregan both stood down on Thursday, paving the way for senior players Phil Turnbull and Gary Brown to take charge of the team. Phil will play on Saturday, while Gary, who is injured, will be in the technical area. There are interviews with the two of them elsewhere on this website.

Quakers go into the game in 12th place after losing 1-0 at Curzon Ashton last Saturday – Quakers were left scratching their heads after missing several chances to score – while Stockport are two places ahead of Quakers in tenthon goal difference. Stockport crashed out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night in a replay at FC United of Manchester. Despite FC United being down to nine men before half time they won the game 1-0 to mount further pressure on County manager Jim Gannon.

Gannon is in his third spell at the club having had most success during his first tenure in which he led County to promotion to League One.

Last season we picked up four points from our two meetings, a 2-1 win at Heritage Park and a 3-3 draw away from home.

Here are the highlights of the 2-1 win last September

They finished last season in eighth place in the league table missing out on the last playoff spot on the final day after being held at home by Gloucester City.

Kick off on Saturday is 3pm, updates on the game will be made from the club’s Facebook, Twitter and Website. Live Commentary will be broadcast from Darlo Fans Radio at 2:50pm which is kindly sponsored by Tempest Jones.
