Good draw for Under 15 Quakers

This week’s youth team round up.

Darlo Under 15 Quakers 2 Gateshead u15 2

Report by Steve Cotterill

Darlo entertained Gateshead in what was always going to be a tough game. Gateshead started the brighter and Matty Cotterill was called into action saving well from a low shot. Gateshead got through again one on one Cotterill saving with his feet and Phil Sheridan clearing the rebound. Darlo started to grow into the game with the outstanding Matty Callender pulling the strings but it was Gateshead who took the lead. A long ball over the top and the striker finished well .25 min in and there was a blow for Darlo, James Morley had to come off injured leaving the team with the bare 11. Darlo were more into the game Connor Brown going close then a superb through ball from Matty Callender found Kai Wright whose great first time shot found the back of the net.
HT 1-1
Darlo pushed on in the second half and Lewis Carragher hit a great free kick which came back off the post . Gateshead nearly regained the lead,  a brilliant scissor kick from 10 yards was superbly saved by Matty Cotterill . Darlo then went on to take the lead a great run and finish by Sam Connolly . Gateshead pushed for the equaliser but Darlo had 3 great opportunities to go further in front but Gateshead levelled with ten minutes to go. This was a great team performance the lads battled hard, having to play with injuries and was a great defensive display. Man of the match Matty Callender worked tirelessly for the team .
