Darlington FC Youth u12s 6 v Coulby Newham 1

MOTM – Benjy Keating

With special coach mentions to – Fynn, Lumley and Walters

Darlington went into this tough game against a team doing well in the league like ourselves.

Coulby started well with some great passing moves but Darlo always looked a danger when attacking at pace with a more direct and basic style of play suited for the pitch and conditions.

Coulby went in front with a good finish after a sloppy clearance from Darlo. But like in the first half of the season Darlo's players showed great togetherness and commitment as well as determination to turn this deficit round, which started when the confident forward Jamie Diamond flicked the ball up for himself and volleyed into the roof of the net 1-1.

Darlo went 2-1 up when another great corner by Moncur wasn't dealt with and Benjy Keating slotted home and straight after Harry Dixon pressured a Coulby player and took ball off him and slotted home to make it harsh on Coulby but 3-1 to Darlo at half time!!

Coulby started the second half well and were the better team for the first 15 mins of it but Darlo held firm with Chrissy Walters, Callum Campbell, Benjy Keating and Fynn in goal all impressive.

The game changed when Diamond went back up front and Keating partnered Crumpton in centre mid and the lively Jamieson and Sams went back onto the wing.

Darlo hit the post three times but with Keating, Sams and Gibson supporting Diamond Darlo made it 4-1 when Diamond squared for Keating to finish well, then Sams shot was saved and Diamond coolly slotted home for 5-1.

Davidson and Waites coming back on and working hard for the team Davidson laid the ball inside and Keating took a great touch then hit a unstoppable shot from 25 yards into the top corner for his hat trick and round off a great game for the lad. Motm was Benjy Keating but a big mention for two other players Fynn and Lumley who made crucial saves and also once again Chrissy Walters who played four different positions in the game and played excellent in all four!
