Durham City Colts 0 Darlington FC Under 12s 11
Darlington started a bit slowly but still had most of possession, creating a few half chances.
Darlington finally got off the mark when there a goalmouth scramble in the goal with it ending in with the ball being prodded home by striker Preston Gredziak, 1-0. That's when the floodgates opened, Darlington went up a gear and started bombarding the Durham goal resulting in some great saves from the keeper and Alex Walton hitting the crossbar. The second goal came not too long after, when the ball worked its way out to the right hand side to Will Gatiss and he cut inside onto his favoured left foot and curled it into the far corner to make it 2-0. Straight after there was another great save by the Durham Keeper, some good work and team play on the left hand side between Finlay Tulip and Charlie Drury resulted in the ball been put right in front of the keeper, going to the back post for Will to make the keeper pull off a good save to push the ball around the post for a corner, from that corner Will made it 3-0 straight from the corner which the keeper pushed into his own net. It was 4-0 soon after with an own goal from a Will cross, Will finally got his hat trick, with a nice finish from the right hand side and putting the ball into the top right corner with his left foot.
HT 5-0
Darlington started as they ended the first half, making 5 subs, with introductions for Taylor Waugh, goalkeeper Jack Denham, Caden Beckett, Jay Haxell and Kit Hodgson. Straight away as the whistle was blown Darlington went on the attack with Charlie Drury powering through to score his first goal with a neat finish into the bottom corner 6-0.
Charlie got his second soon after with a superb free kick into the top right, keeper no chance! Great run from Jay Haxell on the right hand side, resulted in a cross from Will for Taylor Waugh to nearly make it 8 with a good header but narrowly put the ball wide. A couple of minutes later made amends and made it 8 after a great through ball by Tyler Rowden put him through on goal and he calmly made 8-0.
3 more goals were added before the final whistle as Taylor Waugh completed his hat trick with 2 further goals and Caden Beckett getting his first goal of the season.
Taylor Waugh could have had 4 but a late 4th was called offside! Unlucky Lad! We are classing this as 12-0 but officially it wasn't.
FT 11-0
If we could give MOTM to the whole team we would as every single player put a shift in and had a great performance, but MOTM goes to Preston Gredziak, who impressed with his movement and his holding up the ball! Onwards and Upwards for the U12's!
