At the start, Darlington knew that this game was important. They started out fantastic, passing the ball around positively . That positivity led to a quick goal from Dylan Nicholson, a well worked goal with an excellent finish. After that it was a back and forth match with attacks from both teams, Lewis Johnstone made a brilliant 1v1 save with their striker. Jack Harland went off with an injury and was replaced by the quick footed Murray Brock. The defence line of Lewis Smith, Josh Bell and Sam Pocock, staying strong, Again Dylan Nicholson broke free to score another great goal. Hebburn piled on the pressure and pulled one back. Sam Pocock made an excellent sliding tackle, but the referee deemed it a penalty. Lewis Johnstone dived the correct way but the shot was too hard, 2:2.
After half time Darlington came back fighting with some excellent passing play from McCabe, Ord , Nicholson and Brock with Ethan Routledge commanding a defensive midfield role. Hebburn pilled on the pressure again after that they found 2 gaps and scored from them, the first was an unstoppable shot that Matty Cotterill had no chance in saving and the second a good though ball. Riley Spinks came on to replace a very hard work Spencer McCabe, for his debut on the left. Darlington found some small amount of hope and tried to get back into the game with a fantastic pass from Tommy Ord , Jack Harland (back on the pitch) broke free to give us some hope in getting a point, 3-4. The pressure was there but the final whistle blocked them from the point.
Final score:
Darlington U12's 3
