Darlington Youth Under 15s 3 Wearside Blues 2
Darlington Youth u15 sponsored by Baltic Training Services and Billinghurst George & partners entertained in-form Wearside Blues on the 3G at Longfield.
Both teams started well knocking the ball around and some ferocious tackling in the midfield really dictated a competitive game, Darlington started to find space on the right hand side and a great cross by Jack Baines was just sent over the bar by Harry Noble. As the game swung from end to end Bailey Howarth shot just wide and a long range effort by Matthew Wilson was saved by the Wearside keeper.
Against the run of play Wearside took the lead when the ball broke free in the box from a corner and was stabbed home from the Wearside forward to give Wearside a 1-0 half time lead.
The second half mirrored the first with Darlington probing for the equaliser and they came close when Adam Bearpark shot straight at the keeper .Darlington fell further behind when a long straight ball up field eluded the Darlington defence and although James Thorpe pulled off a great save in the Darlington goal the rebound fell kindly to the Wearside forward who made it 2-0 to Wearside.
With only 10 minutes to go Darlington stuck to their principles of passing football and pulled a goal back when Harry Hobbs slipped in Robbie Lee inside the box and he finished from 12 yards .
Darlington now really dug deep and with only 5 minutes remaining equalised when Adam Bearpark beat the off side trap and rounded the keeper to make the score 2-2.
With the game now entering the final moments Darlington didn't settle for the draw and pushed forward and where rewarded when Adam Bearpark had a fine run and hit a unstoppable 20 yard shot into the bottom corner to which the whole Darlington squad celebrated with great enthusiasm .
Final score Darlington 3-2 Wearside Blues
Overall a fantastic show of never say die attitude from the entire squad and extends the team’s winning run to six games.
