Darlington Youth Under 17s 2 Beamish Boys 3
Darlo got off to a flying start to the game, just like their previous two games. A well worked move down the right hand side in the first minute was completed by a cross from Kelton Johnson, directly onto the head of Luke Jenkinson for his 3rd headed goal in three games!
Unfortunately, Darlo couldn't hold this lead for long as a Beamish player found space in the centre of the park and fired one home for the visitors. Shortly after another beamish player found himself on the edge of the box unmarked and managed to squeeze the ball past the Darlo players and into the net, 1-2 Beamish.
After going into the break 1-2 down, and with the lads knowing exactly where they had gone wrong, we started the second half exactly like the first, with the ball coming in from a corner 2 minutes in, which was met by a sweet volley from Kelton Johnson! 2-2!
Just as things we're looking up for the lads, the play advanced down the left hand side for Beamish, and despite what seemed like a clear cut foul from the visitors on a Darlo player, the ball made its way through to the Beamish player and into the back of the net. 3-2.
As the game drew out, Darlo pushed and pushed for goals, with chances galore, including one clear opportunity cleared off the line by a defender, unfortunately Darlo's best efforts weren't enough, and the game ended with a disappointing first loss for the under 17s. 3-2 the final score.
