Stockton Town U7 – Darlington FC Youth U7 Quakers

MOTM - the whole squad as everybody was excellent

The final game of the year for the young Quakers saw them travel to face Stockton Town.

Darlington started created a number of chances with some great play down the wings from Miller Shield and Zach Reeve.

Darlington struck first when Alfie Glancy broke behind the Stockton Town defence and slotted the ball home.

Stockton soon managed to get on the score sheet themselves against the run of play. The Stockton Town striker intercepted a pass in the Darlington half and netted Stockton’s first of the day.

Darlington kept their cool and with some hard work from Miller around the area found him one on one with the keeper.

With half time approaching the game was end to end, both teams enjoying plenty of possession in the opposition’s half.

Apo Bakan kept the ball away from Darlington’s goal on a number of occasions with some exceptional tough tackling.

Finley Cole just couldn’t stop the ball from seeing the net just before half time due to the powerful shot from the Stockton player.

The second half saw Harry Ryder and Jack Parry come into the fold. The game from the start was end to end, both teams attacking at pace and defending strongly.

A corner for Stockton saw them take the lead for the first time in the game. The ball was played in and was cleared.

Darlington pressed for a way back into the game. Jack Parry was making some great runs down the left wing. A fine piece of play between Jack and Alfie enabled Jack to get a shot away.

Darlington continued to press, Jack Parry was pushing forward when he was cut down by a Stockton defender. The young winger could not continue so Miller was brought back on.

The game carried on end to end but Darlo defended solidly. Harry Ryder cleared a number of attacks and anything that did get behind him was kept out by some confident goalkeeping from Finley Cole.

With time running out Darlington were confident that their defenders would keep them in it they pressed forward.

An excellent game for the young Quakers and a fine performance to sign off 2016.
