Volunteers needed to help Danny

Stretcher carriers required

Volunteers needed

We are looking for four to six volunteers to act as stretcher bearers/carriers on home match days.

The Role

When needed, you will assist our physio Danny O'Connor with the extraction of injured players, the role will involve you bringing on any and using any equipment needed to safely remove an injured player from the field of play.

What is needed from you?

Although first aid experience would be helpful, no qualifications are needed as any player extraction will be performed under the instruction and guidance of our physio Danny. All you need to do is be able to carry a stretcher, have the ability to remain calm in a stressful situation, and be able to follow simple guidance and instruction.

When will you be needed?

Ideally you will be available for all home games. You will not have to be there until shortly before kick off, it is intended that four people will be present at all home games, but in the event of more than four people coming forward to volunteer, a rota will be drawn up to suit everyone.

However, it is expected/needed that once a month (ideally the first home game of the month) everyone will be available to come in three hours before kick off to run through practice drills to ensure things run smoothly when a bad situation arises.

What you will get in return?

  • Free access to all home games (when hopefully you will not be needed, so you can sit and enjoy the game)
  • Experience working as part of the medical team in an elite football setting
  • The chance to experience some of Danny's world famous banter
