Wynyard Town v Darlington FC Youth U9
MOTM – Will Coxon – after a very hard working performance.
Darlington made sure they ended the year on a high against Wynyard Town.
The team travelled with high hopes after a fantastic performance in their
last league game.
The team started with Zach Judson in goal, Ewan Irvine and Jack
Thompson in defence and Ben Snowden sitting in front of the defence in
midfield.
Harry Gunnall, Jack Shaw and new signing Will Coxon added the fire
power to the squad.
From the first whistle, Darlington peppered the Wynyard goal, looking
to take an early lead.
It took until 4 minutes before the break for Ben Snowden to break the
dead lock, finishing off into the bottom corner, after a scramble in
the box.
The second half brought Oliver English into the game replacing Jack
Thompson at the back, and Max Atkinson replacing Ewan Irvine which saw
Ben Snowden drop back into defence.
Will Coxon was unfortunate not to score his first goal for the club
when he went close with 5 minutes left.
Max Atkinson had a chance when each time the ball fell he was unlucky
not to score.
In the final few minutes Will Coxon had another shot saved.
The next game for the under 9s isn't until 8th January away to Stockton town.
Thanks again for all your support, and to all the U9s have a great Christmas.
