Darlington FC Under 13s 1 Thirsk 1
Mikey Weston
Darlington started brightly in a very one sided game.
Darlington played some good football in the first half and were unlucky to be a head after Jojo and Chris both went close, Louis ran riot up and down the wings, Thirsk couldn’t break down the back 4, player of the month boo was outstanding alongside William watt at the back Louis and Callum Campbell tried to go forward at every opportunity,
We took the lead from a free kick, and Callum Moncur beat the keeper to make it 1-0,
Darlington could have had a couple more at the start of the 2nd half but again the referee decided it wouldn’t be our day, Dfc had a few changes and soon changes start to be wasted and sucker punch Thirsk 1-1.
Frustrated day at the office
County Cup Darlo Quaker 15s 5 Greatham u16s 4.

Good result for Darlo against a tjfa 1st division team. Although our performance wasn't great we had a lot of injuries and had the bare eleven. However we were the better footballing team and in patches played some canny football. At 5-2 we had the game sewn up and with better finishing could have buried them. We then gift wrapped them two goals in the last five minutes which nearly blew it. End result was 5-4. Scorers were Oscar Taylor 1, Matt Mcguken 1, Lucas Reed 1, Callum Wilson 1, Toby Richardson 1.
Darlington U-15s Feethams 1 Silksworth 7
by Andrew Alton
Sunderland Silksworth were the opposition for the County Cup tie at Eastbourne. Both sides set off brightly with corners and chances at either end. Silksworth took the lead after 15 minutes, their forward breaking free down the left flank and finishing neatly to the keeper’s left. Things continued to go from end to end with both keepers making fine saves on several occasions. With thirty minutes gone Darlington forced two corners in succession, Tom Horner taking the second and finding Alex Mason who lashed the ball in from close range with his left foot. Yet again the boys found themselves on the receiving end of some questionable challenges as the half drew to a close with the score all square.
The second half started with the visitors gaining more possession and it wasn’t a surprise when they took the lead ten minutes in. Moments later came the moment the game seemed to hinge on, a dubious penalty awarded to the away side which was duly converted. Darlington seemed to lose their shape and focus at this point with Silksworth taking full advantage. They added four more goals before the full time whistle blew. A scoreline that certainly flattered our opponents but who on the balance of play deserved the victory.
Man of the match was awarded to Spencer Soakell who played as a makeshift centre half before moving into midfield halfway through the second half.
We will now look forward to getting back into league action next week.
