Saturday 5th November 2022:

TJFA Girls U9 Blue Division:

FC Hartepool Vs. Darlington FC

POTM: FH

Team Coach Shaun Mackenzie said; "The girls got off to a slow start and conceded a few early goals. They didn't let this stop them and continued to work hard putting together some good passes and getting up into their half. They were unlucky to not get a goal before half time. Darlington then came out fighting in the second half getting a couple of shots off which unfortunately didn't hit the back of the net. The girls showed determination and continued to battle to the end".

RFYL Girls U13 Premier Division:

Washington FC 2-2 Darlington FC U12's

POTM: Annie A

Goalscorers: Annie A & Xienna

Team Coach Mick Walton said; "Darlington travelled to Washington in a second vs third game on a horrible wet day. Washington came out firing and took a 1-0 lead before Annie A broke through to grab an equaliser only for Washington to grab another just before half time to go in 2-1 up. Second half saw some great football and a great goal from Xienna F pulled it back to 2-2. Darlo had chances to win it but it finished 2-2 which keeps us in the top 3. A great performance today after being behind twice to show spirit to get back in the game".

RFYL Girls Under 14 Division One:

Darlington FC Feethams 3-4 Newton Aycliffe FC

POTM: Sophie B

Goalscorers: Anna, Chanelle & Izobella

Team Coach Paul Ross said; "After going 1-0 up very early on we soon found ourselves going in at half time 3-2 down after a dodgy half. The second half started and we quickly grabbed a goal back and went on to dominate the second half hitting the bar 3 times and putting many chances straight in to the hands of the goalkeeper. Aycliffe went on a counter attack with barely a minute left of time and scored a winning goal. A poor first half performance was the cause of a loss today with a lot to be learnt from but a second half showing great character and heart almost made up for it".

RFYL Girls U18 South Division:

Darlington FC 8-1 Chester Le Street United FC

POTM: Livia L

Goalscorers: Lily W (3), Livia L (3), Rachel F & Lacey B

Team Coach Scott Buckton said; "A scrappy start for both teams with neither team managing to get hold of the ball and play football. Ten minutes into the game and we  started to settle and gained the majority of chances and possession of the ball. Wasn’t long after this when Darlington managed to break the deadlock and chances kept coming throughout the half and the girls found themselves 6-0 up at halftime. Second half started just like the first and very scrappy on a tough pitch but Darlington once again found the net to settle the game down. Chester le Street managed to break the solid defence of Darlington down to grab one themselves but another from Darlington saw the game end 8-1. Credit to Chester le street girls who never gave up and were encouraging each other throughout the game".

RFYL Boys U10 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Feethams Vs. Washington United Navy FC

POTM: SA

Team Coach David Boardman said; "Prior to kick off I was informed I had 3 players missing through illness and this left us down to the bare minimum of 7 against a strong opposition. As a side who have only formed this season, our starts to a match had become problematic with starting slowly in the game and putting ourselves onto a back foot from the off. Well today we changed things slightly with our warm up beforehand and the boys came out the blocks firing and played outstanding in the 1st half dominating from the starting whistle and going in at half time 3-0 up. We spoke about composure, winning the individual battles and playing the ball as we knew the opposition would come out firing to which the did. We weathered the early storm and a change of tactics from the opposition, but after switching off briefly at a corner we eventually conceded. I feared the worst as the boys began tire and with having no substitutes to utilise but conceding seemed to rile the boys and they dug deep and followed instructions and scored a deserved 4th goal. The game then became a bit scrappy with the opposition grabbing a 2nd near the end. The boys despite being shattered battled through to the end and thoroughly got their 1st ever win as a team which they have deserved".

RFYL Boys U10 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Quakers Vs. Whitburn & Cleadon FC

Goalscorers: NP7 (3) & JJ11

Team Coach Lee Childs said; "A tough game this morning against very solid opposition. We started the game excellently to score early through NP7 who picked the ball up in his own half and drove forward and finished smartly when 1v1 with the goalkeeper. We then dominated the game with some excellent football, resulting in JJ11 being taken down in the box, unselfishly our captain and usual penalty taker IT8 stepped aside to allow JJ11 to covert with a lovely top corner finish. A third came from some excellent passing and a great through ball from IT8 and a cool finish from NP7 again to make it 3-0 at half time. The second half was a more even affair with both teams playing some nice football. We extended our lead thanks again to a tidy finish from NP7 after great pressure from our midfield and forwards winning the ball high up the pitch. The game then became end to end as it drew on and Whitburn started to create a few chances which were really well dealt with by CR1. We conceded a goal in the second half to leave the end score at 4-1 but CR1 was unlucky not to keep the ball out after a strong initial save".

Sunday 6th November 2022:

TJFA Boys U7 Argentina Division:

Boro Rangers Milan FC Vs. Darlington FC

POTM: OM & TK

Goalscorers: OM (2), SM & OR

Team Coach Wayne Rudd said; "The U7s was fixtured against the very strong Boro Rangers Milan team for the 2nd week running. They played well again, but with a bigger squad this week, the constant changes to try and give fair match time for all, led to some basic errors. This made things more difficult for us against a very small Boro squad, who have been together for some time".

TJFA Boys U10 League Cup:

Darlington FC Vs. Boro Rangers United FC

Goalscorers: IT8 (3) & JN9

Team Coach Sam Pascoe said; "A scrappy start to the game as the lads looked sluggish on the ball and struggled to breakdown the Boro Rangers United side. The first goal came after a good run down the right by NP ended in NP showing great composure to get his head up and pick out IT on the edge of the box who drilled in a dangerous ball that ended up in the back of the net. We doubled our lead through the same partnership of NP driving down the wing and pulling the ball back for IT to finish calmly into the bottom corner. Just before half time, the lads gave away a soft free kick on the edge of the box. The initial shot was saved by CR but the Boro Rangers United players reacted quicker to score the rebound. At half time, me and Lee decided to make a change in formation and asked for the lads to move the ball around quicker and to press higher up the pitch. The boys took on the instructions well and completely dominated the second half. A low driven cross from IT on the right found an excellently timed run of JN who finished well to give us a 3-1 lead. Pick of the goals came next, as the dangerous duo of NP and IT linked up again and IT unleashed a venomous shot into the top corner to seal the game".

Durham County Boys U18 Cup:

Norton & Stockton Ancients Youth FC 0-3 Darlington FC

POTM: Luke Wade

Goalscorers: Raphael Oppong, Ethan Cuthbertson & Maciej Nuprezcyk

Team Coach Grant Cuthbertson said; "Even though we were against opponents who are a year above, we never looked out of place and competed all over the park. The first 15 minutes were frantic with Darlington attracting pressure from Norton but we stuck to the game plan and on the 19th min Raphael Oppong opened the scoring assisted by Dominic Stacey. Darlington then through their intricate passing and intelligent playing took a firm grip on the game and on the 38th min Ethan Cuthbertson slotted one away after a cross from Alfie Fawcett. This seemed to knock the wind out of Norton’s sails and and some nice play from Alfie Fawcett again as he assisted Maciej Nuprezczyk to score to make it 0-3. Norton changed formation at half time but Darlington remained disciplined and were the much better team and had a couple of chances to add to the tally but it remained 0-3. A very good all round performance from the lads against a good Norton team which sees Darlington progressing to the next round".
