Saturday 12th February 2022:

RFYL Girls U10 Cup Competition:

Darlington FC Vs. Chester Le Street Amazons Aztecs

POTM: Maisie and Ellie

Team Coach Natalie Peart said; "This was the girls first game back for around a month and as expected they were all excited to get back at it. The girls completely dominated the game, showing excellent pressing throughout the game which  meant that Chester Le street couldn’t get out of there own half. There was some excellent goals scored and the girls really want to be proud of themselves as each and everyone of them worked there very best not only for themselves but for each other".

RFYL Girls U13 Premier Division:

Darlington FC 2-3 Jarrow Lasses

POTM: Eva L

Goalscorers: Eva L (2)

Team Coach Shaun Mackenzie said; "Another narrow defeat for the Quaker girls today, they were up against it before kick off, only being able to field 10 players due to injuries and illness. The girls battled for the full 70 minutes with one player less and probably deserved something from the game. They came in 1-0 up at half time, having worked tirelessly for each other and were rewarded for their hard work with a penalty slotted away by Eva. Jarrow came out fighting in the second half and went ahead with 2 goals of their own. Darlo continued to try and play football and their never give up attitude was rewarded when Grace closed down the defender and it fell to Eva to calmly finish and get her second of the game. Unfortunately, Jarrow scored towards the end of the game with lots of tired legs and took the 3 points. Every single one of the girls put a shift in today and really grafted for the team. They should hold their heads up high and look forward to the last game of the league campaign.

RFYL Girls U16 Cup

Darlington FC 1-0 Stockton Town

POTM: Millie S

Goalscorers: Elisha W

Team Coach Scott Buckton said; "First cup fixture for the girls today and a tough one to start off the cup campaign. Stockton started off on the front foot but Darlington organised themselves well and defended brilliantly to keep Stockton out. A quick chance broke for Darlington and Elisha found herself a bit of space to tuck the ball away into the net from 20 yards out to give Darlington a boost. An evenly battled tight first half saw us go in at halftime 1-0 up. The second half saw Stockton keep the majority of possession but found it hard to break down the Darlington defence. However, one great chance fell to them late on in the second half but a game winning save from Evie kept the lead and saw Darlington see the rest of the game out to keep the lead at 1-0. 7 games undefeated now since Christmas 2021".

RFYL Boys U9 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Vs. Newcastle City Juniors

Goalscorers: Finley Childs (5), Jake Johnson (4), Laiton Fleming (3), Jay Brydon & Isaac Tongue

Team Coach Lee Childs said; "The first fixture of the new spring league resulted in a bit of a mixed performance. The boys were outstanding going forward from the get go, scoring a well worked goal in the first few minutes. The lads controlled the game throughout but we kept getting caught on the break and we got punished on a few occasions. The boys kept pushing well throughout the game and continued to dominate in the second half. They played some excellent football and scored some very well worked team goals. Great preparation for the league cup semi final tomorrow".

JPL Boys U13 Division:

Darlington FC 3-1 NYSA FC

Goalscorers: Paddy Key (2) & Niall Armstrong

Team Coach Lee Hutton said; "A hard fixture today against a very talented and well organised North Yorkshire Soccer Academy side. Due to having a few players missing, we had to change our formation. It took the boys a while to settle and despite controlling possession the opposition went 1-0 up after a precise ball split our defense for their forward to slot home. As the game went on, we grew into the game and played some good passing football. We continued to control possession and created several opportunities. The boys looked motivated today, they were working well in transitions, look well organised and played some good eye catching football.

JPL Boys U14 Division:

Darlington FC 7-1 Bradford FC

POTM: Jesse Nelson

Goalscorers: Jesse Nelson (5), Leon Griffiths & OG

Team Coach Michael Eggleston said; "A convincing win today for the boys. Some really well worked goals were scored and an equally solid performance by our defence".

Sunday 13th February 2022:

TJFA Boys U9 League Cup Semi Final:

Darlington FC Development Vs. FC Hartlepool

Goalscorers: Finley Childs & Isaac Tonge

Team Coach Lee Childs said; "Extremely proud of these boys today. Playing with only 7 players and no subs this weekend, the lads built on yesterdays excellent performance and booked their place in the league cup final. The game was tight and hard fought throughout, as it always the case when we play Hartlepool. Both teams had half chances early in the game, but as the first half progressed we started to assert our dominance and we created some good chances that we may have done better with. With the lads on top, we took the lead late in the first half thanks to excellent work from Jay Brydon and a cool finish in to the bottom corner by Finley Childs. The early stages of the second half were tight with both teams creating half chances. We took a 2-0 lead thanks to the persistence and desire shown by midfielder Isaac Tonge. He reacted quickly after an initial shot was blocked, following it in to score the rebound. A special mention to gk Charlie Reay who didn’t have too much to do but made a great save tipping on to his own post to maintain his clean sheet and avoid a nervous end to the game. Overall another great performance, with every single player showing their desire and excellent work ethic as well as playing some great football".

TJFA Boys U10 Red Division:

Darlington FC Vs. Levan Athletic FC

POTM: Thomas Orton & Coleson Croft

Goalscorers: Lukas Ellis & Kian Hutton (2)

Team Coach Paul Orton said; "Good effort, attitude and desire combined with positive play and creative football meant the boys went away today with their desired result. Having fallen behind twice in the game and conceding the first goal after just two minutes it was our response to the situations which was very pleasing and demonstrated the character we have in our team. Thank you to Leven Athletic for another good game and we wish them good luck in the League Cup Final".

TJFA Boys U13 Division 1:

FC Hartlepool 2-2 Darlington FC

Team Coach Lee Hutton said; "A tight game where for around three quarters of the match we had to play with 10 men. This came about due to ill discipline something that the teams need to improve on. The game ebbed and flowed throughout and we had to change our tactics to play counter attacking football. This worked well when early into the second half we found ourselves 2-1 up. Literally 2 mins from the end a defensive mistake left there forward on the half turn and he clinically slotted home.
