Academy start new season at Solihull

Away game kicks off season in new league

The Academy begins a new adventure today in the newly formed National League North.

The lads travel across country in the club’s new minibus to Solihull Moors in Birmingham for their first ever game at this level. The Academy has been accepted into this league after being granted a licence by the National League for reaching stringent criteria.

Academy boss Paul Thomas said; “We have a good mixture of first and second year lads making the journey.

“The quality of our first year intake is very good, we have some excellent players included in our squad.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how they perform, and how they adapt to football at a higher level than what some of them have been used to.

“It’s a big step for some of them, but if they want to make a career out of football, then this is what they must adapt to. We’re all looking forward to the game, and the journey will help us bond together.”

Quakers are in the same league as Boston, Fylde, Halifax Town, Guiseley, Hartlepool, Alfreton, York and Chester, so they will be coming up against opposition of different standards from all around the country.
