Today, we said a sad farewell to Alan ‘Benny’ Bennett.

Darlington Football Club Supporters Group, on behalf of the Club and all its supporters, sent a wreath at today’s funeral.

Dave Mills remembers Benny with great affection saying, “Benny was a fantastic life-long Quakers supporter, and I am very proud to have known him, he always had a smile on his face! Over the years we shared many chats about all things Darlo and football in general. Benny had supported his beloved team home and away for many years, he was a local legend and he was one of those people everyone knew. More recently, Benny was a familiar face in the front row of the stand at Heritage Park cheering the lads on and like every other Darlo fan, he was delighted to see two successful promotion campaigns in the last three years. Benny was truly and in every sense ‘one of our own’. Rest In Peace”.
