Boston take the points after Quakers miss chances
By Ray Simpson
Another big away game for Quakers
Boston United 2 Darlington 0
Mooney 23 mins, 1-0, Knowles 65 mins 2-0
Quakers were left to regret some missed chances when they were beaten at the Jakeman Stadium tonight.
There were some great opportunities created in the first half, but they all went begging as Boston took advantage of some slack defending by Quakers to score a goal in each half.
The defeat leaves Quakers without back-to-back wins this season, and seven points adrift of fifth bottom Rushall.

Quakers had a good promising move down the right in the opening minute when Andrew Nelson played the ball inside for Jarrett Rivers, who had a shot blocked.
Boston responded with a run through the middle by Kelsey Mooney, but Young held on to his low effort down to his right.
Quakers got a free kick on the left through Scott Barrow, but the ball was headed away.
They had a half chance when Matty Cornish played the ball behind the Boston defence and Nelson gave chase, but Aaron Chapman came off his line to clear just in front of the Darlington forward.
And Chapman was in action again on 9 minutes, backpedalling quickly to push Ben Hedley’s cross over the bar.
Quakers missed a great chance on 15 minutes. They won the ball in midfield, and Main played the ball through for Nelson, who with just Chapman to beat, had his shot blocked by the keeper.
Main then picked up a poor pass out of the Boston area on the left and played the ball inside for Hatfield, whose shot was blocked.
Quakers nearly took the lead when Cornish got away down the right and set up Nelson, whose dipping right foot shot landed on the roof of the net.
But Boston broke away and scored on 23 minutes when Jimmy Knowles dribbled dow the right, got into the area, and set up Mooney to score from a few yards.
Boston went in search of a second, and Knowles won the ball in midfield, ran forward, and struck a 25 yarder that Young calmly saved.
Quakers missed another great chance on 39 minutes when Rivers found Main on the left, and he crossed the ball over to the far post where Nelson missed with the goal at his mercy.
And there was another chance when Rivers sent Cornish away, but the keeper blocked his shot.
Half time 1-0
Siddik pulled up limping after four minutes of the second half, and when he was off the field, Boston won a corner that came to nothing. Griffiths came on for Siddik with Hedley switching sides.
Main made a great run that got him into the Boston six yard box, and with two defenders blocking his way, he played the ball back, but there was nobody in support.
Boston nearly got a second from a free kick that was played into the box for Mooney to have a shot fisted away by Young. Mooney then headed the corner over the top from six yards.
Quakers then replaced Nelson with Mitch Curry.
Quakers then took off Tom Platt and replaced him with Liddle – Platt was clearly in some discomfort.
It was 2-0 on 65 minutes. A free kick came in from the right, and the ball dropped for Knowles to fire right footed past Young.
Quakers kept going, and they nearly pulled one back with a flowing move that ended with Curry’s low cross that was aimed for Rivers, being cleared by a defender on the six yard line.
However, they could no longer open up the Boston defence as they had done in the first half.
