Quakers suffered an embarrassing defeat at Victory Park, their first defeat by eight goals since 1987.

Quakers have never won at Victory Park as a fan-owned club, and a win never looked likely after just six minutes, when they were a goal and a man down. 

Chorley scored three times before half time, and kept up the pressure in the second half, scoring five more as Quakers failed to get a grip with them.

There was a chance in the second minute for Chorley, when a long ball forward was neatly controlled by Johnson, and he set up Jack Sampson, who volleyed over from 25 yards.

Quakers went a goal down after four minutes. A left wing corner was played deep to the far post, where Mark Ellis had plenty of time to control the ball and fire across Tommy Taylor into the net.

And after 6 minutes, Quakers were reduced to ten men when Andrew Nelson was dismissed for a high challenge on a Chorley defender.

Quakers were forced into a change on 15 minutes, when Jake Lawlor came off and was replaced by Toby Lees.

Chorley got their second on 23 minutes. A long throw from the left was headed away only as far as Adam Henley, who took a touch and then fired low past Taylor into the bottom right corner.

It got worse on 27 minutes. Chorley built up on the right to the edge of the box where Ollie Shenton had time to turn and hit a left foot shot into the top corner.

Quakers were forced to sit deep, and there were some good interceptions to stop Chorley getting more opportunities.

Quakers had a penalty shout on 43 minutes. They won a free kick 30 yards which Hatfield floated into the penalty area where Burton seemed to be barged over, and when the ball came out, Salkeld shot appeared to strike a Chorley arm, but the referee waved play on.

Quakers had to make another sub on the half time whistle, when Jarrett Rivers went off injured, and Jim Simms came on.

They nearly pulled one back when Simms found Ngandu on the right side of the area, and he put the ball into the six yard box where Salkeld had an effort cleared off the line.

Half time 3-0

It was 4-0 on 53 minutes. A long ball found Justin Johnson on the left, he controlled the ball, stepped inside and beat Taylor with a right foot shot into the bottom left corner.

Chorley could have been reduced to ten men on 62 minutes when Smith brought down Ngandu as he was trying to break, but the ref only showed him a yellow.

After Calveley hit the bar with a header, Chorley got the fifth when Popoola pulled the ball back from the left for Billy Whitehouse to fire home.

But it was 6-0 on 73 minutes, when the ball was given away in the Darlington area, and Whitehurst pounced and fired right footed past Taylor.

Quakers nearly sneaked one back, a deep free kick by Hedley into the box when just past the far post.

But it was 7-0 on 82 minutes when Moke, level with his own 18 yard line almost on the touchline, tried to hit a crossfield pass but instead mishit it high over Taylor into his own net

And to cap a completely miserable night, Whitehurst scored a last minute penalty
