Darlington Women are up for the Cup!

League Cup final on Sunday

Darlington F.C Women are back in action for the final time in the 23/24 season in the League Cup Final on Sunday.

Darlington will play Birtley Town Ladies and it’s set up to be a good competitive game.
The game will be played on the stadia 3G pitch at Sunderland Ford Hub.

Both teams have had decent seasons in the league. Darlington finished in second place on 41 points and Birtley Town in fifth place on 31 points. Birtley took the three points at their place and Darlington got the win at Eastbourne. But league form goes out the window in a cup final with no home advantage.

Darlington saw off Stockton Town Ladies and Hebburn Town in the Quarter and Semi Finals whereas Birtley had to get past Boldon in the semi final after away walkovers in the previous two rounds.

Darlington are still missing club captain Lou Brown and Aimee Dagnall is still sidelined with injury with Leanne Clennett and Lucy Charlton both still unavailable.

This is the Quaker Women’s first ever final after tasting defeat in the league cup semi final in their first season and also losing out on a place in the final of the County Cup last season. They will be doing everything they can to bring home the trophy. They're also aiming for a possible double -- they finished the season second in the table, and are awaiting the green light from the FA to win promotion.

Missing your Darlo fix and weekend football? It would be great to have your support down at the Sunderland Ford Hub on Sunday. Let’s go Darlo!
Everyone at the club would like to wish Darlington Women the best of luck in the final.
