Martin Gray v Stourbridge

Darlington players participated in a “very intense” training session last Saturday.

Once Darlington manager Martin Gray knew that the Stamford game was postponed at around 11am on Saturday morning, he called his players in for what he called a “mini pre-season” instead.

“I wanted to make sure that when we restart playing, then we’ll be ready as much as possible,” he said. “After the Stamford game was postponed, I quickly organised a training session, because I wanted to maintain the players’ levels of fitness and sharpness.

“It was very intense, like a mini pre-season. We worked on the players’ fitness and strength, and set them certain targets, and we got some messages across.”

next game Hyde away

Quakers have got five games to re-arrange – at Sutton Coldfield, Frickley and Stamford, and at home to Grantham and Rushall Olympic – and MG said; “It’s a very frustrating time for a manager, but there’s no point in dwelling on it. I just have to make sure that the players are ready for the next game.”

Hopefully, Quakers’ next game is at Hyde this Saturday, and then there are two games over the Christmas weekend, at home to Whitby on Boxing Day, and then away to Blyth on December 28th. If all those games go ahead, then they will reach the halfway stage in terms of the number of league games played at home to Ilkeston on January 2nd.
