Darlington Youth (Sponsored by Darlington Building Society, The Flintlock Inn & BTS Fabrications) welcomed Coulby Newham to St Aidans in the TJFA League Cup.
Darlington opened the scoring inside 10 minutes thanks to Jacob Gibson’s second goal for the club. The big centre half prodded in from close range following a Tom Horner free kick. Thomas Hindmarch doubled Darlington’s lead a minute later with a very well taken goal. Matty Moody’s through ball was inch perfect and Hindmarch raced clear of the Coulby defence before firing low across the keeper and into the far corner of the net.
The hosts looked very dangerous early on and made matters even worse for the visitors when top scorer Corbyn Mitchell made it 3 within 13 minutes. Having nicked the ball from the Coulby midfielder, Mitchell burst into the penalty area before shooting low across the keeper for his 29th goal of the season.
Playing football which was a joy to watch, Darlington were right on their game. Thomas Hindmarch made it 4-0 with another great finish in the 20th minute. The pacey winger latched onto Liam Wynn’s pass down the left hand side, before dinking the ball over the advancing keeper for his second of the game.
Liam Wynn netted twice in the space of 4 minutes as the floodgates opened. His first was a header following good work from Corbyn Mitchell wide on the right and moments later Tristan Bowden-Bloomfield’s surging run from defence ended with a fine pass into the path of Wynn, who coolly rounded the keeper before rolling the ball into an empty net.
The final goal of the half came in the 33rd minute and this time it was Matty Moody. Liam Wynn turned provider with a dangerous ball into the Coulby danger area and Moody tapped in at the far post to make it 7-0 at the break.HT 7-0 (35 Mins)
The hosts continued to dominate the game against the side who finished runners up to them last season. Matty Moody netted his second of the match in the 39th minute, following excellent switch of play from Thomas Horner.
Corbyn Mitchell continued his impressive form this season, with another three goals in the space of six minutes, as Coulby tried in vain to stop a Darlington side bang in form. For Mitchell, he now has 8 hat-tricks in 8 games this season.
Thomas Hindmarch scored his hat-trick in the 53rd minute with another very well taken goal and Mitchell netted his 5th of the game two minutes later.
