Chester-Le-Street Under 17s 4 Darlington Under 17s 6
An interesting game for Darlington Youth U17s as they travelled to Chester-le-Street Town to complete a 6-4 win.
The Darlington side took an early lead, Joseph Smith scoring within the first two minutes, he then scored again very quickly, making it two in the first 5 minutes. They continued to push forward, Dale Milburn scoring twice to give the team a 4-0 lead. However due to sloppy defending, the Darlington side conceded two goals within quick succession, putting pressure on themselves. Darlington then reacted quickly with a headed goal from George Shaw, reinstating a three goal lead at 5-2. But this wouldn't last as just before half time the home side scored a scrappy third, bringing them back into the game at 5-3.
The second half was dominated by Darlington as they had steady possession throughout, the side continued to push forward, allowing James Donoghue to score the sixth Darlington goal of the match. But with 15 minutes remaining the Chester-le-street side were given a questionable penalty, drawing them back to a two goal disadvantage.
Overall a solid victory for the Under 17s, dominating possession and forward play, however sloppy defending costing them the defensive display they would have liked.
