Late fightback not enough for the reserves

The reserves lost 3-2 at home to Richmond on Saturday, with a late fightback not enough to earn them a point.

They were 3-0 down halfway through the second half, and even though they scored twice, couldn’t break through again.

Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “We got off to a great start in the first 15 minutes, but then we lost our way a little bit and were 2-0 down at half time.

“We lost both our centre halves because of injury and went 3-0 down, but then we scored through Jamie O’Brien and Dale Milburn to get back into the game.

“But despite all our pressure, we couldn’t force an equaliser. Richmond were hanging on at the end.”

The reserves side was mainly made up of teenagers – there were 2 16 year olds, 5 17 year olds, and the rest were 18/19 year olds.

The next game is at Silksworth on Saturday.
