The latest from around the league

We suffered our second straight defeat on Saturday at King’s Lynn 2-0 to slip to 18th in the league table.

York remain top of the table, but they were made to work for a 3-2 victory at Gloucester. Alex Kempster put them ahead early on, but two goals in five minutes from Joe Hanks and Jake Jackson saw them fall behind. Just a minute later Jordan Burrow brought York level with Kempster grabbing his second five minutes into the second half which proved to be the winner.

Alfreton are third after a 1-0 win at Kidderminster thanks to a Dom Smith goal at the end of the first half time.

Guiseley have also started well and sit fourth after their latest success at home to Curzon Ashton. Felix Kaine scored the only goal for Guiseley with just five minutes left to play.

Fifth placed Chester’s unbeaten start to the season came to a dramatic end 2-1 at Spennymoor. Akwasi Asante put Chester ahead after just seven minutes but they were reduced to ten men on the stroke of half time. Andrew Johnson brought the Brewers level and deep into stoppage time Glen Taylor grabbed the winner.

Hereford are in the final playoff spot after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Boston United.

Gateshead are just outside the top seven after a 2-0 win at home to Brackley. Veteran Michael Nelson gave them the lead and victory was sealed thanks to Joshua Kayode.

Our opponents on Wednesday night Blyth remain bottom of the table after a 2-0 defeat at Leamington. Josh March scored the goals for the Brakes in the second half.

Bradford Park Avenue are second bottom after a 3-2 defeat at home to Telford. Brendon Daniels  put Telford ahead  before Lewis Knight pulled Bradford back level. Adam Walker again put the away side just before half time, but again Riccardo Calder equalised for Park Avenue. However, Daniels had the final say winning the game for Telford inside the final quarter of an hour.

Altrincham won their second game of the season with a 3-1 success at home to Farsley. Ashley Hemmings gave them the lead with two goals from Jordan Hulme making the game beyond doubt. Farsley grabbed a late consolation through our former player Dave Syers.

Kettering  picked up a point away to Southport. Michael McGrath scored both goals in the game, first an own goal to put Port ahead, but he was able to redeem himself equalising just seven minutes later.
