Reserves go down narrowly at Gateshead Leam Lane
The Reserves produced a much better performance, but still went down 2-1 at Gateshead Leam Lane in the TWR Wearside League last night.
The lads were easily beaten 4-0 at home by Silksworth last weekend, but they were unlucky to lose on this occasion.
“It was a much better performance all round,” said joint manager Mark Fanning. “We changed our game plan from Saturday, and we had them on the back foot quite a bit in the game.
“We took the lead and played some good football, but we conceded two daft goals in 15 minutes through individual mistakes, and we couldn’t force an equaliser.”
Matty Bancroft, who has been sub keeper for the first team in recent months, made a couple of good saves in the game, while Leo Kirkbride scored the Quakers’ goal.
The lads’ next game is at Annfield Plain on Saturday.
