Two volunteer roles available

Videographer and video editor

Following the news that our much-valued volunteer, Kevin Luff, has decided to retire at the end of the season, we have two volunteer roles that we would like to fill in our media team.

Videographer / Camera Operator

Duties and Responsibilities
The role would involve operating cameras and filming the game from a variety of positions within the ground, being able to track the play and provide usable footage for a highlights package which is published following each game and filming post match interviews.

The role would also require ensuring batteries and other accessories for the cameras are charged and ready for a matchday, cameras are setup an appropriate amount of time before kick-off and that cameras are packed away safely and stored in an appropriate place.

The ideal candidate would have some experience of operating a camera and filming sports. The role would be well suited to students on a media / broadcast production degree looking to gain hands-on experience during their course. The successful applicant must be available for all home games.

Required Skills

  • Be able to work as part of a small volunteer team
  • Excellent time keeping and organisational skills
  • Able to setup and operate a video camera
  • Produce usable video footage for use in highlights packages
  • Maintain confidentiality

Video Editor

Duties and Responsibilities
The role would involve taking the matchday footage produced by the videographer(s) / Camera Operator(s) and producing the club's matchday highlights package.

This would involve the use of a non-linear video editor such as Final Cut Pro / Adobe Premiere / Da Vinci Resolve to edit the footage into a 10-15 minutes package which can then be uploaded to YouTube around a day after the previous match has concluded. They would also be responsible for publishing the post match interview after the game as well - this is normally around five minutes in length.

The club have a Macbook and can supply any desired video editor as required. It would be advantageous to the video editor however if they used Final Cut Pro as the club possesses a number of titles etc which were created in Apple's Motion package. However the video editor would be free to create new titles / graphics in whatever application they saw fit.

Required Skills

  • Be able to work as part of a small volunteer team
  • Excellent time keeping and organisational skills
  • Able to edit matchday footage into a highlights package using a video editor
  • Able to edit any post match interviews
  • Publish the videos to the club's YouTube channel and website
  • Maintain confidentiality

Additional Details
These are volunteer roles. The club play games on Saturday afternoons, some Tuesday evenings and bank holidays.

If you’re interested in either or both of these roles, please send your application, with your cv, by Saturday 24th February to media@darlingtonfc.org
