Darlo entertained Hebburn in their first league game for a while and started brightly taking the game to Hebburn and got their reward with a great run and finish from Ciaran Dixon. Matty Callender made it 2 with a great move and one two with Sam Connolly and a cool finish over the keeper. Connor Brown struck the post with a 20 yard and Danielle Adok nearly broke the cross bar with a fierce free kick on the edge of the box

HT 2-0

Darlo made 6 changes at half time and were pegged back to 2-1 with a well taken free kick from the edge of the box.This sparked Darlo and they hit back straight away with a great goal from Colby Agnama . The goals just kept coming with Ciaran Dixon grabbing his second, Bobby Gray got one after a great passing move captain Thomas Lea with a bullet header from a corner Colby with a neat finish for his second, Kai Wright finished well when through with the keeper to beat to make it 8. Colby got his hat-trick with the goal of the game, great fast flowing passing move let to a Daniel Adok cross and Colby was there with a great volley Connor Brown went on to hit the post again, Bobby Gray hit the crossbar before Mark Gent got his first goal of the season to make it 10 -1 with a great follow up after the keeper spilled Kai Wright’s shot .This was an outstanding team performance and some of the football was brilliant at times and a pleasure to watch.

This match report is going to be slightly different to the norm this week. I could tell you about how the boys played great football, worked as a team, never gave up and I could list each player’s great attributes.

But, as a coach one of the first bits of advice I was given was that the majority of players that I coach wont make it as professional footballers but it is our job not just to make them better players but make them better men.

Today we had a young referee who was only 16 and was one of the best refs we have had, he played advantages which helped the game flow. His father said to me that it was the first game he had refereed where he had not received one bit of abuse from players, supporters and coaches. That makes me really proud of my boys and parents, also thanks to Greatham for this.

Secondly, the manager took me to one side after the final whistle and said that the boys were the best team he had played this season, the most physical!! but also had the best attitude.

Now as a coach all the above comments makes all the time and effort you put in worth while.

Back to the football, the boys were excellent again. Kai Martin scoring 5 and taking the man of the match award, Alva Williamson getting his name on the score sheet.

A special mention to Mason Theaker who has had to play in goal since Christmas and has not once moaned or whinged. A great boy and has now kept 2 clean sheets in 2 games, which is as rare as hens teeth in under 8's football.

Couldn't be prouder of every single one of my boys!
