Yakubu to play in Legends game
Nigerian international, and ex-Middlesbrough forward comes to Darlo for Marathon Bet Non League Challenge fixture
Nigerian international Yakubu is the latest big name to sign up for the MarathonBet #NonLeagueChallenge Legends match on Sunday 29th July.
Yakubu, 35, has been capped 57 times by his country, Nigeria, scoring 21 goals.
He moved into English football at Portsmouth from Maccabi Haifa, for whom he had scored seven times in the Champions League. He helped Portsmouth win the Championship in season 2002-03, and then scored 16 goals for them in the Premier League in 2003-04, four of them against Middlesbrough.

He scored another 13 Premier League goals the following season, after which he moved to Middlesbrough for £7.5 million. He scored 23 goals in 75 appearances for Boro and helped them reach the 2006 UEFA Cup final.
He then moved on to Everton for £11.25 million, and in his stay at Goodison Park took his goals tally in England to over 100.
He had a brief spell on loan at Leicester, before he moved on to Blackburn in 2011. He scored 18 goals for them including all four against Swansea City, but left when they were relegated.
After that, he played in China and for Reading, Kayserispor and Coventry City before retiring in November 2017.
For his country, Yakubu has played in the 2000 Olympic Games, 2002 and 2004 African Cup of Nations and the 2010 World Cup.
